Here's what I've been watching and playing over the last seven days...
MOVIES
Not the Top Gun sequel, but the Mel Gibson cowboy movie - yes, I know Mel Gibson isn't really someone to praise, but he is really good here and so is this movie.
I think this movie has aged quite well and has become my favourite modern depiction of the character - I say 'modern' when this movie came out 17 years ago!
GAMES
EA FC 26
I've finally found settings that make the game somewhat enjoyable to play, but it took ages and it's still not great - I won't be reviewing this as there's no need; I'm pretty sure that I've reviewed at least one of the FIFA games before EA lost the licence and all the same issues still exist, with new ones added!
Sorcery! Part 3
I also won't be reviewing this as I've stopped playing it due to a frustrating real time gameplay mechanic that changes whether a section plays out in the past or present that works at random and I uninstalled the game after 30 minutes of waiting for a location to switch to its past version that never happened.
And, if you think I gave up too easily, that was actually my second attempt to complete the game after I had what I can only assume was a bug the first time through which had apparently wiped out at least one event I'd completed.
Checking walkthroughs afterwards, Part 3 is apparently supposed to be used to empower your character as much as possible in readiness for Part 4, which I had failed to do well at all in either attempt at Part 3, so I think it's for the best if I just leave the series there.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone
I'm pretty sure I forgot to say that I was playing my way through the Hearts of Stone expansion solely because it's integrated so well into the base game that it just feels like a natural fit.
Regardless, I finished it in the last week and am planning on writing about it next week.

M.O.D.O.K.
Series summary: Centres around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. (IMDb)
Episode 1, “If This Be… M.O.D.O.K.!”
I’m not sure if this show is going to be for me; lots of energy, lots of jokes (most of which missed), but I can’t see why this is a M.O.D.O.K. or Marvel thing yet. [4/10]
Episode 2, “The M.O.D.O.K. That Time Forgot!”
More of the same really, except there’s also a time travel story where everything emotional is undone by the end and past-M.O.D.O.K. is now in the present. [5/10]
Episode 3, “Beware What From Portal Comes!”
Okay, I actually enjoyed this one – still ridiculous and joke hit rate isn’t great, but at least felt more entertaining than either of the first two episodes, mostly thanks to M.O.D.O.K.’s daughter. [6/10]
Episode 4, “If Saturday Be… For the Boys!”Another episode I enjoyed – bar the wife’s scenes – and the show definitely feels like it’s on an upward trend at this point. [7/10]
Episode 5, “If Bureaucracy Be… Thy Death!”
A bit of a step back this time – doesn’t look great making the title character look pathetic, especially when he’s not been shown in any kind of positive light yet. [6/10]
Episode 6, “Tales From the Great Bar-Mitzvah War!”Another ‘okay’ episode – I’ve stopped expecting anything special from this series now and am just viewing it as mildly entertaining background noise. [6/10]
Episode 7, “The Man… This Makeover!”Add one more to the ‘decent’ pile, although I did like seeing Wonder Man here, which reminds me I haven’t watched the MCU show yet… [6/10]
Episode 8, “O, Were Blood Thicker Than Robot Juice!”
I don’t really know what I can say other than another decently entertaining episode of stupidity and the title character looking pathetic. [6/10]
Episode 9, “What Menace Doth the Mailman Deliver!”
More mildly enjoyable stupidity and at least MODOK didn’t come across like a pathetic idiot this time! [6/10]
Episode 10, “Days of Future M.O.D.O.K.S!”
Um, I’m going to guess that they thought there’d be a second season, because this is a part 1 with no other parts, leaving the show ending not even on a whimper, but a wet fart instead. [4/10]
While I do love the stop-animation visual style of the show, I'm not really sure who the intended audience is, with the baseline humour level seeming to be stupid, silly idiocy which makes it feel like it should be for kids, but the level of violence really rules that out.
M.O.D.O.K. is just a weird show full stop - I love how it looks, but the quality level never really rises much above 'decent' or 'okay' and I have zero interest in ever watching it again. [6/10]
