Here's what I've been watching and playing over the last seven days...

The Last Duel

Starting on my Disney+ backlog and this was the first to go: I wondered if my opinion would change since the first time I saw it and I'm happy to report that I feel exactly the same about it now as I did then - odd and a little full of itself, but still entertaining while it lasts.

The Darkside Detective

Game summary: Grab your trench coat, tune your sixth sense and join the Darkside Division as they investigate the outright bizarre, the downright dangerous and the confusing cases of Twin Lakes. (Steam)

I don't really know what I was expecting when I installed The Darkside Detective, knowing nothing about it other than it being a humorous detective point-and-click adventure game, but it wasn't this.

I thought it would be all one big story from start to finish, leading to a grand climax, but what you actually get is an anthology of shorter stories, each telling their own tale.

Honestly, I think it works to The Darkside Detective's benefit, as it keeps things from getting stale, and continuity does carry over the six main cases and three bonus cases you get.

Keeping things on the small side with these shorter stories means there's a limited range of options, so puzzles are never that difficult, although a couple are so short that it genuinely takes just a few minutes to beat them.

As for the humour, a lot more misses for me than hits, but there are so many jokes and/or references packed into each story that the jokes that landed were still frequent enough to keep me playing.

The Darkside Detective is a fun little game which is mechanically simple and how much you enjoy the game might just come down to how much you enjoy the humour in it. [7/10]

I was planning on starting Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, but didn't find the time free to do so - I will try and make amends for that over the next week.
