Time / Changes
A lack of / A need for.
Yep, a lack of a review post this week means that it must be time for another change to what I do with this site, which is sorely needed thanks to a lack of time. It's frustrating, but it really does feel like time moves faster as you get older and that you have less time available to you to do the things you want to do.
I've said before that I effectively use this site and these posts almost as a therapeutic measure so I could continue to experience new works rather than constantly re-watching my favourites and I do think it is something that has worked well up to this point. The problem is that there are a lot of things I'd like to re-watch/read/play in addition to trying out new stuff, and I just don't have the time if I want to keep adding new posts.
Getting through TV shows is hard enough thanks to their length - halfway through the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars right now - but then there are games like Baldur's Gate 3 which I'm currently loving that will end up having taken over a hundred hours by the time I'm through.
What I had wanted to do was try and fit in smaller things to fill the gaps and ensure new posts every week, but then I'd be forcing myself to go through these new (to me) works and I don't think I'd be able to properly appraise them or how much I'd like them if I'm not in the right mood for them.
So what I want to do are weekly posts every Wednesday to keep the same schedule, but it's going to be more blog-like in that I'm going to simply give updates about new movies, games and TV shows that I've either finished (and how I rate them), am currently working my way through, or am planning to start soon.
These posts will probably end up being even longer than the review posts, but I think just being able to add little bits at a time as I finish things, or providing smaller updates, will be more enjoyable and less time-consuming than forcing myself to sit down and write about a single thing for an entire post.
There will be one exception to this - a review of the excellent Marvel's Midnight Suns - that will go up next week, but after that has been posted, it'll be the new format that will take over and hopefully be a little easier for me to handle with the limited time it feels like I have to do this kind of thing.
There might well be bonus posts in the future that will go up whenever they're ready - if I've written enough about a particular work that I feel I can collate everything I've written into a substantial enough post, then they'll be posted as their own thing so you can see how my opinion of the longer works (mostly games and TV shows, I imagine) changed over my time with them.
