No Truce With the Furies

Six years old in six months, and there are still few games that even begin to compare to Disco Elysium.

Here's what I've been watching and playing over the last seven days...
MOVIES
Le Mans '66 (aka Ford v Ferrari) and Rush
Firstly, I have to hold my hands up and admit that I hadn't realised that I hadn't written about Rush yet, so look out for a bit more on that rather bloody good movie next week.
Secondly, I know there was a musical connection between Sunshine and X-Men: Days of Future Past, but I really am not trying to 'theme' my movie-watching - it's just that these two motor-racing movies go together so well it's quite frankly ridiculous.
They're also both about rivalries, although of a completely different kind to each other, and as they both revolve around sport, technically neither movie have villains either (although Josh Lucas' Leo Beebe comes pretty damn close in Le Mans '66).
I really do think it's impossible for me to watch either of these movies without watching the other soon after and I thoroughly recommend watching both of them.
GAMES
Look, there's a reason it's got the main image and that's because this is easily one of the best games I've ever played and I don't think it's likely there'll be another game made during my lifetime that'll make me look at Disco Elysium any differently.
The title of this post is also what the game was originally going to be called - seriously, the game is so good that even the title that didn't get used is better than most games that have ever been made.
When I installed it, the intention was just to have it as something familiar available to play if I didn't have the time to sit down with Jurassic World Evolution or Yakuza 0 and just fill in those small gaps in the day.
The problem is that the game is so fucking good that when I did start playing it, I didn't want to stop.
This is at least my fifth time through the game and I'm still finding new conversations to have with characters, while progressing through the story far differently to what I remember too.
The kicker is that I'm already thinking about starting another playthrough the second I finish the current one because unlocking certain pieces a new way this time has given me an idea of how to experiment with getting to the same point in an entirely different way.
And despite playing through the game multiple times before, I'm still listening to every single word of the voice acting too, taking my time to soak it all in.
The dialogue isn't the only audio aspect to soak in either, as every single piece of music in this game is also excellent and is one of the very few game soundtracks I've purchased thanks to liking it so much.
I could go on and on (and on and on and on) about how great this game is, but I'm going to stop here so I can go play it some more - the Tribunal is approaching and that promises to be just as nerve-wracking as ever.
Seriously, go play Disco Elysium - it's a fucking masterpiece.
TV
No episodes of TV watched in the last week, but I will be starting Obi-Wan Kenobi soon and may even get that done completely over the long Easter weekend.
