Once more with more feelings.

Envy takes centre stage as Joy, Anger, Disgust and Anxiety look on - from Inside Out 2

This is what I've been playing and watching over the last seven days...

Inside Out 2

Movie summary: When teenage Riley heads off to hockey camp, the puberty alarm in headquarters goes off and new emotions come in. When it turns out that these new emotions intend on completely changing Riley, Joy and the emotions are determined to stop them. (IMDb)

Not knowing anything about the story of Inside Out 2, I was worried that this was going to be a re-tread of the first film and it kind of is?

Yet again there's one emotion - Anxiety this time - who wants total control to the detriment of Riley's life until they can learn to be a team player.

Fine, that might count as a spoiler, but it's a very predictable outcome from very early on and it feels like the film knows this.

Like the first film, there's multiple emotions (the original quintet this time) trying to get back to the control room to set things right and having to overcome a variety of setbacks.

The biggest problem this time is that there's just too many characters to juggle, with Anxiety taking up so much screen time that the other new emotions (Embarrassment, Ennui and Envy) barely have anything to do.

That said, Inside Out 2 is still a well made movie that just doesn't come close to matching the excellent original.

Speaking for myself, I've watched the original multiple times, but can't really see myself watching this film again.

I know that sounds like a major criticism, but it's just that the film is cramming in so many people that it feels very insubstantial as a result.

Inside Out 2 isn't a bad film by any means, but there's just too much going on for anything to really hit home the way the first one did on a regular basis. [6/10]

GAMES

I really enjoyed my first time through this game, and am enjoying it even more the second time around.

I've started trying some longer flights, but I still kind of get that queasy feeling in my belly on take-offs and landings that I get in real life flights, and that wind when you're high up...

I stopped my playthrough to start again using a guide for one of the happier endings (although tweaking things where I could) and really enjoyed how everything ended, including the game letting me do one thing that I really wanted to do, but didn't think it would let me, which was the icing on the cake.

TV

"Now Is Not The End"

A damn good opener that fits a lot of moments really well into a single episode without ever feeling rushed - bloody strong start to a show. [9/10]

"Bridge And Tunnel"

Another strong episode packing in just as much as the first while making it all flow pretty well - and some great action too! [8/10]

"Time and Tide"

Not quite as substantial as the first two, but the performances of the cast - especially Hayley Atwell and James D'Arcy means there's still plenty to enjoy. [7/10]

"The Blitzkrieg Button"

Back on form and packed to the gills, with some major surprises that really shake things up where the story is going - and Stan Lee makes an appearance too! [8/10]

"The Iron Ceiling"

The Howling Commandos! An early Black Widow training facility! More reveals and twists! Peggy getting her due! Only the low budget action lets the side down. [8/10]

Still great, with so many classic episodes for a TV series with so many - and this is the last season with the longer hair!
