A guy gets stuck on a tropical island with Rachel McAdams - it doesn't go how you might think...
Here's what I've been watching and playing over the last seven days...

Send Help
Movie summary: An overworked analyst and her arrogant nepo-baby boss survive a plane crash near Thailand and must cooperate to survive on a remote jungle island while their workplace power dynamic collapses around them. (IMDb)
I'd been meaning to watch Send Help for a while and am glad I finally got around to it, but I'm also quite happy that I didn't see this in the cinema.
The main reason I feel that way is that movie starts with a decent chunk of 'cringe' humour, with Linda (Rachel McAdams) being depicted as quite pathetic and awkward - the latter aspect of her especially making some scenes really uncomfortable to watch and I was glad I could pause and take a moment!
However, once Linda and her boss, Bradley (Dylan O'Brien), end up on the tropical island together is where the movie really kicks into gear and only gets better and better from that point on.
I saw Send Help described as "Misery, but where the victim fully deserved it" and that is accurate to an extent, but there are some twists and reveals that give this movie its own flavour.
Especially as I'm fairly certain that most people watching this movie with no idea what the story is will have no clue where it's going or how it will all end - hell, that image at the top of the page is almost a spoiler in itself.
Rachel McAdams is absolutely wonderful as Linda, in the type of role I've never seen her come close to playing before and would love to see her in more movies where she gets to show off like in Send Help.
She is ably assisted by Dylan O'Brien, who is worryingly excellent at playing a complete prick and really like that he can pull of the trick of making us feel sympathetic for him while still remembering that he is an utter cock who we shouldn't feel too sympathetic about.
On the downside, I think Send Help is ~10-15 minutes too long, with certain moments feeling a little repetitive as there's only so much you can do with two people stuck on island.
Also, while I'm fully aware that the movie is deliberately going over the top to entertain the audience, there are, again, a few moments where it pushes just that little bit too far into "Okay, I can't take this seriously now."
That said, I still fully recommend Send Help as a great watch for anyone who isn't squeamish when it comes to blood and gore, as there is a fair bit of that in here when the climax kicks off.
Send Help is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed watching it, especially when I was able to overlook when things got a little too silly to take genuinely seriously. [8/10]

I'm up to the final mission now and have overall enjoyed my time with the game outside of the semi-frequent shitting of the bed.
Will hopefully rate this next week.
Disco Elysium
Yet another playthrough of one of my favourite games and enjoying it as much as usual, playing a Sherlock-type who is great at figuring everything out other than people - which includes himself.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Still ploughing my way through the story and have both crowned the first Queen of Skellige and re-affirmed Geralt's love for Yen - still love this game.

Star Wars: Resistance, Season 1, Episodes 12-16
Episode 12, “Bibo”
A genuinely bad episode where Neku is selfish enough to want to keep a pet at the expense of everyone else's lives, and a solution so obvious that it feels insulting when it’s declared so in-story. [2/10]
Episode 13, “Dangerous Business”
If this episode hadn’t required such complete idiocy from Kaz to get the story moving it wouldn’t have been too bad. [4/10]
Episode 14, “The Doza Dilemma”
Much better stuff with betrayals, conflicting loyalties and manipulation running throughout.
Side note: Synara might just be my favourite character thanks to not being as one-note as the others. [9/10]
Episode 15, “The First Order Occupation”
A bit odd how the First Order have completely taken over, but still another enjoyable Synara-centric episode. [7/10]
Episode 16, "The New Trooper”
Another pretty good episode about the First Order tightening their grip on the Colossus. [7/10]
Resistance really has been a mixed bag so far, being mostly decent and having any good or better episodes balanced out with poor or worse equivalents.
